Palazzo del Monte di Pietà

Intesa Sanpaolo

Standing in the beating heart of the city, its ashlar portico softened by the three-mullioned windows on the main floor, the Palazzo owes its majestic appearance to the changes to the original 16th-century nucleus made during the second half of the 17th century; in the corners of the building, four groups of marble statues depicting Piety identify its purpose. Set inside the palazzo like a casket is the Chapel of Santa Maria, with a marble altar by G. Comin and E. Merengo, a masterpiece of Baroque sculpture in Friuli, frescoed in its entirety by G. Quaglio.
