The book includes the complete diaries written between 11 July 1943 and 29 June 1945 by Massimiliano Majnoni, then head of Banca Commerciale Italiana’s Rome delegation. They reveal the history of Italy in Majnoni’s day, from the collapse of the Fascist regime to the slow, complex task of rebuilding the country’s civic and democratic fabric. The volume is accompanied by biographies of the figures who appear in the diary.
