{"id":439974,"date":"2021-01-07T14:06:15","date_gmt":"2021-01-07T13:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/progettocultura.intesasanpaolo.com\/?post_type=exhibition&#038;p=439974"},"modified":"2021-05-03T10:20:35","modified_gmt":"2021-05-03T08:20:35","slug":"after-raphael-1520-2020","status":"publish","type":"exhibition","link":"https:\/\/progettocultura.intesasanpaolo.com\/en\/exhibitions\/after-raphael-1520-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"After Raphael. 1520-2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since 2018 there has been an important 3-year cultural partnership agreement in place between Intesa Sanpaolo \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallerieditalia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gallerie d\u2019Italia<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hermitagemuseum.org\/wps\/portal\/hermitage?lng=it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State Hermitage Museum of Saint Petersburg<\/a>, which has enabled sponsorship of a remarkable exhibition dedicated to Raphael, to mark the 500th anniversary of his death:\u00a0<strong><em>After Raphael<\/em><\/strong><strong>.<em> 1520-2020<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The exhibition, staged in the state rooms of the Winter Palace <strong>from 10 December 2020 to 28 March 2021<\/strong>, celebrates the legendary Raphael and the art of \u201charmony\u201d, from the Renaissance up to the present day. Harmony, decorum, and balance are indeed the constant characteristics of this Urbino-born maestro\u2019s works, which have dominated the European art scene for five centuries: Mannerists and Academic Artists, the Caravaggisti and the Baroque, Romantic and Modernist maestros have all looked at art through the lens of Raphael. And it is through this lens that curators Zoya Vladimirovna Kuptsova and Vasily Mikhailovich Uspensky have scrutinised all the masterpieces on display.<\/p>\n<p>With\u00a0<em>After Raphael. 1520-2020<\/em>,\u00a0the State Hermitage Museum is exhibiting\u00a0<strong>more than 300 works<\/strong>\u00a0(including dozens of paintings now on display to the public for the first time). The exhibition opens with some of the artist\u2019s works and <strong>8<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>monumental frescoes by the School of Raphael<\/strong>\u00a0(following the restoration project initiated in 2015), followed by masterpieces from Giulio Romano, Parmigianino, Poussin, Rubens, Mengs, Ivanov, Venetsianov, Ingres, Corot, and Picasso, right up to artists of our own time. This artistic journey is presented metaphorically by the Hermitage as a line, \u201c<strong>Raphael\u2019s Line<\/strong>\u201d which begins with the works of the maestro and continues still today, thanks to his followers who have guaranteed artistic continuity over the centuries.
