A cultural stroll around Turin
Turin is getting ready for the upcoming Book Fair – for which Intesa Sanpaolo is Main Partner – with one of the events anticipating the traditional exhibition: Portici di Carta, the world’s longest open-air bookstore.
Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October will see a wide-ranging programme of events organised by Intesa Sanpaolo at the Oratory of San Filippo Neri and the courtyard of Palazzo Turinetti: by registering on the Portici di Carta website, visitors can take part in free meetings with publishing professionals, workshops, children’s book events and readings of work by Luis Sepúlveda, the award-winning Chilean author to whom this 14th edition is dedicated.
Not to be missed is the classic open-air bookstore, with a winding 2.5 km-long route hosting 65 bookshops and a host of Piedmont-based publishers divided into 17 themes. Also featuring are traditional literary walks in the footsteps of the many authors who have written masterpieces of Italian literature in the city of Turin.
The Portici di carta project is organised by the City of Turin, its Civic Libraries and Intercultural Centre, and run by Associazione Torino, La Città del Libro and Fondazione Circolo dei lettori, with the support of the Piedmont Region and the active involvement of Turin’s booksellers.
