Linee di Energia: a digital conference, streamed live as part of Artissima

Linee di energia a conference and “trilogy” exploring the conservation and restoration of contemporary art

A three-year long conversation investigating, from different viewpoints, a highly complex and – perhaps insufficiently explored – problem: the restoration of contemporary art.

In association with the “La Venaria Reale” Centre for Conservation and Restoration and the Italian Group of the International Institute of Conservation, Intesa Sanpaolo has taken up the challenge, running an annual international conference for three years and providing a unique sounding board for artists, historians and art critics, museum and institution curators, conservators and restorers.

Its intriguing findings are gathered in a book edited by Francesco Tedeschi, Sara Abram and Antonio Rava, outlining the 2017-2018-2019 conferences held at the Venaria Reale and Intesa Sanpaolo Skyscraper in Turin. Published by Kermes, “Linee di energia” includes three volumes in a single box, with full accounts of the conferences on the production, conservation and dissemination of art from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. It will be presented on Friday 20 November during a digital conference, streamed live as part of the 2020 Artissima event.

Curated by Francesco Tedeschi, Sara Abram and Antonio Rava, and chaired by Giorgio Bonsanti, the “Linee di Energia. Produzione, conservazione e trasmissione dell’arte italiana del ‘900” (Lines of Energy. Production, conservation and transmission of twentieth century Italian art) conference opens at 10:00 am with opening speeches by Michele Coppola, Intesa Sanpaolo’s Executive Director of Art, Culture and Historical Heritage, Ilaria Bonacossa, Director of Artissima, Stefano Trucco, President of “La Venaria Reale” Centre for Conservation and Restoration and Lorenzo Appolonia, President of Associazione IGIIC – the Italian Group of the International Institute for Conservation.

At 10:30 am, following the presentation of proceedings by Giorgio Bonsanti, there will be a round table on the theme of “Consumption” and “Conservation” of contemporary art with artists and experts. Speakers: Cesare Pietroiusti, Gianfranco Maraniello, Giorgina Bertolino, Marzia Migliora, Andrea Viliani, Alberto Peola, Michele Guaschino, Norma Mangione.
